Overview
iDC takes the digital worker initiative to the next level, providing a simple tablet-delivered solution – ‘CertifAI™’ – which digitises and certifies rig specific checklists/ SOP’s, sensor verifications. In collaboration with the RT data aggregator, iDC certifies RT data quality, delivering collaborative operational assurance to both contractor and operator. Actionable insights are obtained from a numeric task-level ‘impact’ which is recast as an indexed risk severity assessment visualised on a dashboard.
CertifAI™: Digitise and Certify Field Sensor Verification
CertifAI™ verifies and certifies key surface drilling sensors, building on procedures defined in the API RP 8FV1 recommended practice for onshore operations and custom verifications for offshore operations.
Stena Drilling has long recognised the essential need to deliver high quality data – particularly surface drilling parameters – to its operator and service company clients. Taking this to the next level, Stena Drilling’s digitalisation team is a collaborative partner with IDC in the implementation of CertifAI™, working with iDC to develop custom sensor verification procedures for offshore and deep water technologies. CertifAI™ guarantees that Stena Drilling delivers an industry-standard approach to sensor validation while certifying procedural adherence from the very start of their clients’ sensor-to-repository data workflow.
CertifAI™: Certify Real-Time WITSML Data Quality
Surface drilling parameters play a vital role in digitalised drilling and completions workflows, acting as inputs to rig state detection algorithms, rig automation and rig control systems, stuck-pipe detection, digital twins, AI modelling, and drilling performance monitoring. However, despite their importance, these data sets have historically lacked a coherent validation process that starts at the source (sensors) and tracks verification and validity through to the data repository. iDC is working closely with major service companies like Petrolink to ensure CertifAI™ is compatible with existing data quality assurance tools such as Petrolink’s ATOM RT, combining data quality metrics with the relevant sensor verification data for certification. The certification hash can then be stored in the newly developed WITSML DataWorkOrder object which also acts as the transport mechanism, binding the certification status to the relevant channel for onward utilisation and storage.

CertifAI™: Digitise and Certify Operational Checklists and SOPs
iDC is fully engaged with the ‘digital worker’ initiatives of its clients, extending digitisation and certification capabilities to key rig Checklists and SOP’s that are currently captured in pdf, Word or Excel documents. IDC’s self-service form builder allows the user to ingest Checklists and SOP documents and render them as active forms in the CertifAI™ interface. More importantly, an impact/escalation metric is captured at the line item level of each digitised Checklist or SOP enabling, for the first time, both visibility and actionable insight from what have historically been paper documents. A final check of completeness allows IDC to then certify the form and close it out. In short, digitised SOP’s deliver not just an improved experience for the documents administrator, they also render the content visible and available for onward processing, analysis and knowledge retention.
CertifAI™: Collaborative Operational Assurance – Risk, Visibility, Competency
For the first time, verifiable operational procedural assurance isn’t just a wish, it’s a reality. CertifAI™ delivers truly actionable insights from every verification, every checklist and every operational procedure.
Risk Severity Assessment : CertifAI™ is much more than a simple process improvement that comes with the move from a manual to a digitised workflow. iDC’s unique risk indexing capabilities give the administrator the power to implement multiple levels of escalation at the task level which, when summed across a specific procedure, deliver a compliance-based risk index for that procedure. The risk indices for multiple activities can be rolled up into a 24hr or weekly risk summary, allowing operational procedural assurance to be quantitatively redefined as a proxy for risk severity assurance for the first time.
Visibility: The CertifAI™ dashboard captures every submitted process in real time. For the contractor, this gives the rig manager, OIM, Toolpusher and other on-site stakeholders a clear overview of completed procedures, their certification status and any risk related issues arising. For the operator, the dashboard delivers a high level, well-centric view, keeping the company representative – and the company – confident that procedural assurance is in place for checklists, SOP’s and real-time data quality. Multiple time/role related filters allow authorised users to roll-up or drill-down risk metrics as needed while, for the office, fleet-wide views deliver a compliance and risk overview at a glance.
Crew Competency Profile With implicit knowledge of the tablet user’s role, CertifAI™ can build a verified and certified ‘personal competency profile’ of individual crew members by tracking attendance at TBT’s, drills, daily checks etc and procedural conformance through completed checklists and SOP’s. In short, using the data captured in CertifAI™ to construct an evidence-based competency profile, linking operations to individuals. To reduce manual entry, CertifAI™ interacts with PoB systems to access the crew list.
