CertifAI is a simple, interactive tablet-based application, rendering digitised well site documents as interactive checklists . While initially focussed on  the procedures defined in API  RP 8FV1 for sensor verification, CertifAI now offers digitisation and certification of all documents that belong in the procedural adherence domain.  Moreover, IDC works with it partners in the world of real time data services to certify drilling parameter data quality at the channel level.

Field sensor verification is the process of ensuring that key drilling parameter sensors are functioning correctly and providing accurate data to the aggregator. It involves testing and validating sensor performance against predefined standards and specifications which are captured in documents such as the API RP 8FV1 for onshore rigs and other operator and drilling contractor SoP’s.  API RP 8FV1 (American Petroleum Institute Recommended Practice ‘Field Verification’ ) is a formal document issued by the API in January 2025 describing the field verification procedures for key surface drilling sensors. API RP 8FV1 was built on the sensor verification processes defined by the ‘Operators Group for Data Quality’ (OGDQ). 

Crucial services such as ‘rig state detection’, digital twins, performance contract automation and rig automation are fully reliant upon the presence and quality of surface drilling parameter data. This in turn requires visibility of both provenance and lineage of these key data sets. CertifAI is the first field application to capture and deliver this visibility from ‘sensor to repository’.

Yes.  While CertifAI has been initially structured around RP 8FV1 it is being developed in cooperation with Stena Drilling Ltd to deliver verification procedures for floating/deep water rigs.

The IDC platform uses a combination of multiple AI agents to automate the ingestion of pdf, Word and Excel verifications, checklists and SoP documents.  Once ingested,  an administrator can add line-item level ‘impact’ values and escalation workflows before synchronising the now complete digitised, field-ready document with the CertifAI tablet application.
